When do babies start teething?
Teething age varies from baby to baby. Most of the babies start teething at the age of months to 7 months. However, it is just an average range.
Some babies start teething at the age of even 4 months. Lower two teeth come first in every baby. There is an exception of premature babies.
If you are a parent of a premature baby and your baby has not started teething in the right age of 5 to 7 months, don’t be panic then. BE CALM!!! Premature babies normally start teething at a later age than normal babies.
Signs a baby is teething
There are many symptoms from which you can quickly identify that your baby has started teething. These symptoms can be:
- Excessive drooling (salivation) by your baby
- Pain in gums of the baby
- Baby starts chewing everything
- Development of rashes on the facial skin of the baby
- Baby becomes irritable or ill-tempered
- Baby feels trouble in sleeping, especially during nighttime
- Baby is suffering from diarrhea because excessive saliva production forces the baby’s body to poop more frequently than the normal days
- Baby stops feeding or even eating because feeding or eating causes irritation in the baby’s gums.
- Baby starts biting everything even while breastfeeding
- Baby also starts rubbing or pulling everything like ears or cheeks
But always keep in mind that fever or shivering, or chills are not the symptoms of teething. If your baby is experiencing any of these symptoms, please don’t take them lightly.
Hurry Up!!! Go to a pediatrician as your baby may be experiencing something other than teething.
Many parents neglect these symptoms. Be a responsible Father or Mother and get a check-up from the registered pediatrician.
How long does the teething last?
Babies normally complete their teething process up to the age of 2 years. But this is just an average.
If your baby has started teething earlier than the average age, then BE HAPPY!!! Your baby is also going to complete this teething process earlier than the average age.
Should you use Tylenol for teething
Some parents are fortunate in the sense that their babies have experienced less pain in their gums during the process of teething.
When the baby is in comfort, it allows the parents to be in comfort. IF BABY IS IN TROUBLE, IT MEANS PARENTS ARE IN DOUBLE TROUBLE. But this is not the story of every parent.
Many parents are not so lucky. They are in DOUBLE TROUBLE when their babies are teething. At some times, it becomes difficult for the parents to keep their baby calm while teething. IF YOUR BABY IS FEELING PAIN IN THE GUMS, I AM BELIEVING YOU THAT YOUR BABY IS NOT GOING TO SLEEP AT ALL OR EVEN STOP CRYING IN THE NIGHT.
At this stage, many parents normally start giving medication to their babies for temporary comfort.
FDA (Food & Drug Administered Authority) has clearly discouraged the use of these drugs for babies during the age of teething. FDA has explained that many side effects are associated with these drugs. Don’t allow these drugs to affect your baby negatively.
But you can use drugs on some days when the baby is crying too much. You can use Tylenol (chemical name: acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for your baby to protect from the teething nightmare.
But prolonged use of these over-the-counter drugs is damaging for your baby. DON’T USE THESE DRUGS IN YOUR DAILY ROUTINE!!!
Secondly, DON’T GIVE ASPIRIN to your baby as aspirin is dangerous for the health of babies.
